Bring Your Own Veriff Account to SmartMatchApp
Connect your own Veriff account to SmartMatchApp and run client identity verification from the CRM — no commission or per-check fee from us.
By Kair Mourtazov, SmartMatchApp Head of Business Development
SmartMatchApp now integrates with Veriff, the identity verification provider, on a bring-your-own-account basis. Connect the Veriff account you already hold and pay for, and run client ID checks from inside SmartMatchApp. Veriff bills you directly at your own rate. SmartMatchApp takes no commission, meters nothing per check, and lists the add-on as Free.
If you verify clients before matching them or putting two of them in the same room, you know the awkward part: the check costs money, and the software you run it through usually wants a slice too. This add-on doesn't.

What Bring Your Own Account Means on Your Invoice
A Veriff check never becomes a line on your SmartMatchApp bill:
- Veriff verification records are written at a price of zero, so there's nothing for us to charge.
- Veriff checks are excluded from the metered count used by our built-in Identity Verification add-on. They don't eat into its package allowance and never push you into its over-limit rate.
- You're billed by Veriff, at whatever rate you've negotiated with Veriff.
Nothing about your plan changes, and there's no new tier to buy. For the rest of what your invoice covers, see how billing works in SmartMatchApp.
Veriff or the Built-in Add-on: Which Should You Use?
If you run two checks a month, keep using the built-in Identity Verification add-on. It's priced per request, free within your plan's package limit and charged at an over-limit rate beyond it, which suits low volume.
The Veriff add-on earns its place in two situations:
- You already hold a Veriff account. Maybe you verify clients today and paste the outcome into SmartMatchApp by hand. Connect the account and the copying stops.
- Your volume makes the per-check rate the number that matters. Negotiate with Veriff, win on volume, and keep the whole saving. We're not standing in the middle of it.

How to Connect Your Veriff Account
Setup takes four steps, and the add-on page walks you through them:
- Log in to the Veriff Customer Portal at station.veriff.com and open your integration.
- Copy the API key (your public token) and the Shared secret key.
- Activate the Veriff add-on in SmartMatchApp and paste both values into the API Key and Shared Secret Key fields.
- Back in Veriff, open the integration's Settings tab and paste the Webhook decisions URL shown on the add-on page into Veriff's field of the same name. There's a Copy button on our side, so you don't have to retype it.
Two things decide whether results arrive on their own:
- Don't skip the webhook. Veriff sends every decision to that URL. Without it, a check stays Pending until someone refreshes it by hand, because nothing polls Veriff on a schedule. The address is the same for every agency, so don't look for a personalized one: we tag each session with your agency and client, and Veriff's decision lands on the right record.
- Use a Live integration, not a Test one. Veriff doesn't issue decisions for test integration sessions, so those checks sit at Pending until you resolve them by hand in the Customer Portal. SmartMatchApp can't tell the two apart and won't warn you, so get this right at setup.
Your Matchmakers' Workflow Doesn't Change
The quiet advantage of bringing your own account is that it changes your billing, not your team's habits. Staff still use Request Identity Verification on a client profile, or the same bulk action in Advanced Search to send checks to a whole selection at once.
The client gets the link on whichever channel you pick:
|
Channel |
Requires |
|---|---|
|
|
Always available |
|
Text |
Twilio add-on and a phone number on the client |
|
Slack |
Slack add-on with your workspace connected, and a Slack ID on the client |
|
|
WhatsApp add-on with your application data in place, and a phone number on the client |
You set how long the link stays good for, from one day to never expiring. If Veriff is your only identity provider, the dialog stops asking who pays for the verification, since the check goes on your Veriff account. If both providers are on, you get a Verification provider choice instead and decide check by check.
Automations work too. The Send ID Verification action is available to Veriff-only agencies, so new clients can be verified automatically as they come in. See how to automate daily operations with tasks and workflows to set it up.
Reading the Result
On the client profile, the Identity Verification row shows the request date and a status badge. Veriff's decisions map onto it the obvious way:
|
Veriff decision |
SmartMatchApp status |
|---|---|
|
Approved |
Verified |
|
Declined |
Failed |
|
Resubmission requested or manual review |
Pending Review |
The other statuses are Pending, Expired, Canceled and No Verification. Once Veriff has reported back, the badge opens a Verification Details dialog. On Pending, Expired and No Verification it's just a badge, because there's nothing behind it yet.
Next to a Veriff badge on Pending or Pending Review, a small refresh icon, Check Verification, asks Veriff for its decision right now. The same action sits in the row menu of the Identity Verifications list. It's your manual path when you want an answer without waiting.
A passing check also marks the client as verified on their record, so you can search on it. The Verified rule in client Advanced Search works for Veriff-only agencies too, which means "show me every verified client in Chicago" works the way you'd want it to.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does SmartMatchApp charge for Veriff identity checks? No. SmartMatchApp takes no commission and does no per-check metering on Veriff checks; the add-on is listed as Free and Veriff bills you directly at your own rate.
Do Veriff checks count toward SmartMatchApp's Identity Verification limit? No. Veriff checks are excluded from the built-in Identity Verification add-on's metering, so they never use its package allowance or trigger its over-limit rate.
Why is a Veriff verification stuck on Pending in SmartMatchApp? A Veriff check usually stays Pending because the Webhook decisions URL isn't set in Veriff, or because the session came from a Test integration, which Veriff never issues decisions for. Paste the webhook URL, connect a Live integration, and use Check Verification to refresh.
Is the Veriff webhook URL different for each agency? No. Every agency uses the same Webhook decisions URL; SmartMatchApp tags each Veriff session with the agency and client so decisions reach the right record.
Can I use Veriff and the built-in Identity Verification add-on together? Yes. The add-ons are independent, and with both enabled you choose Veriff or Plaid and Dentity for each check.
Can SmartMatchApp send Veriff checks to new clients automatically? Yes. The Send ID Verification automation action is available to Veriff-only agencies, so verification requests can go out as soon as a client is added.
