I’m here to help you become a successful matchmaker by giving you the tools and knowledge needed, as well as sharing a heap load of real life matchmaking experience with you.

I started out as a full time matchmaker in London 8 years ago. I had an idea of what I wanted to do but was completely clueless on how to go about it. Sound familiar? I mean, where do you even start when it comes to setting up not just a new business, but a business in matchmaking? Most of my friends thought I was a little crazy and had been watching too much ‘Millionaire Matchmaker’!

My background was in children’s services, about as far removed from the dating world as you can get, so it was going to be one helluva leap! What I lacked in knowledge though, I made up for in determination, passion and willingness to learn.

Mutual Attraction was born some months later after serious graft, sweat and tears. I quickly leant it’s one thing setting up as a matchmaker and an entirely different thing actually working with clients who are investing, emotionally and financially, in you to find their dream partner.

Lots of trial and error took place in the early days. I spent way too much money trying things that didn’t work (it still brings tears to my eyes) and I went around things back to front and inside out. I had to figure out everything on my own and I’m not going to lie, it was a pretty lonely time.

I often thought how great it would be to have someone:

• With experience in matchmaking who could guide and mentor me
• Who could show me the ropes and put me on the fast track to success
• To teach me the day to day work of a matchmaker*. There’s lots of talk about profiling and consultations but what do they actually mean and how do you do them successfully?
• To share the documents needed to run smoothly
• With inside knowledge on how the most successful matchmakers grow their network
• With the know-how on effortlessly bringing in clients and matching them successfully

*Note it does not include drinking lots of tea lounging on a chaise longue. Ok, well there is a bit of that!

So that is exactly what I’ve done here at Matchmaker Academy. Although I sold my matchmaking business at the start of 2020 I still want to help people crack into the industry I love. I sold because after 8 years it was time for a few years off to enjoy not working and enjoy my son for a few years before school looms!

I’ve been proud to call myself the UK’s number 1 matchmaker (and I have the gongs to prove it!) but I started out just where you are now. Having an idea, a dream and a vision. Let me share with you my proudest moments of being the founder of Mutual Attraction.

My Top 5 Achievements as a Matchmaker

• Mutual Attraction being the first, and only, UK dating agency to win the ‘Best Matchmaker’ award at the 2014 worldwide iDate awards
• My first wedding and baby – you can’t beat that feeling!
• Being the Head Judge of the 2016 & 2017 UK, US and European Dating Awards
• So far training 20 matchmakers in the profession and watching them grow
• Being a finalist in the Natwest Great British Entrepreneur & Institute of Director Awards

I have matched hundreds of couples. I’ve had marriages, babies and a lot of loved up people. I am still learning every day on the job and I’m matchmaking day in, day out. This is what I love doing.

As a matchmaking I had the luxury of being able to choose the clients I work with. To take Fridays off as ‘me time’. To work from home or out and about in London – no stuffy office for me! To work with a team I love. To spend time with terrific single people, really getting to know them and being honoured when they open up to me. To take holidays when I choose. To not have a commute. To work in my pjs if I want to….ok so only on days when I DON’T have client meetings! You get the picture, life as a matchmaker is good. It’s hard work too. But it’s fantastic fun and incredibly rewarding.

Since becoming a matchmaker something else has happened. I’ve become known as a dating and relationship expert in my own right. I’m lucky enough to have appeared, and been asked to feature in, all the top publications as well as on TV and radio. A personal highlight was going live on Good Morning Britain.

The success of my book ‘Matchmaking: Create Your Own Business’ has shown me there are so many potential matchmakers out there who are ready to take the next step. I have been fortunate to work with many already and see them grow as matchmakers.

I don’t want you to struggle like I did.
I don’t want you to be a matchmaker who doesn’t go the distance.
I want you to a be a successful, reputable and accomplished professional matchmaker who supports single people on their important journey to finding love and happiness.

In interviews I’ve often joked that had there have been a degree in matchmaking I would have jumped at the chance of doing it. Well, the Matchmaker Academy online course is a step in that direction….minus the boring lectures!
